Error code E3 is a refrigeration system protection code in Honeywell dehumidifiers that indicates a malfunction whenever the unit is exposed to extreme temperatures beyond its working limit. TP Series Honeywell Portable Dehumidifiers are designed to work optimally in temperatures ranging between 41°F (5°C) and 89°F (32°C). While both high and low-temperature extremes can affect the dehumidifier’s performance, the latter is unlikely to cause the E3 error. However, it may greatly reduce moisture removal from the environment and cause frost formation on its coils. On the other hand, extreme ambient temperatures above 89.6°F will directly cause an E3 error.
