Hot Coal This song came from a phrase that perfectly described a period of my life: “Too many irons in the fire.” Trying to build businesses, carry grief, chase purpose, survive pressure, and become somebody stronger all at the same time. This isn’t really a heartbreak song. It’s a song about pressure, ambition, loss, rebuilding yourself, and learning that sometimes the fire doesn’t destroy you — it forges you. A lot of this song was built from real memories, real struggles, and the realization that discipline is sometimes born from pain. Originally written as a raw acoustic storytelling song and later expanded into a cinematic Americana/outlaw-country style track. Lyrics below 👇 (Verse 1) I spent years with my foot on the gas Trying to build something that would last Old trucks, late nights, half-burned dreams More pressure than a man could see I wore myself thin chasing every spark Trying to light up the whole damn dark Business rising, business falling Still waking up every morning swinging And somewhere inside all that noise Life kept shaping me with fire Not through comfort Not through luck But through pressure and desire (Chorus) Too many irons in the fire Too many roads left to run Somewhere between chasing dreams And trying to outrun what I’d become But the heat didn’t break me It burned the weakness out instead Turned pain into discipline And made me harder than I’d ever been (Verse 2) When my old man passed, something changed When my mom went, nothing felt the same So I buried grief beneath motion Iron plates and restless devotion Started painting what I couldn’t say Built strength one midnight lift at a time Learned a man can rebuild himself If he’s willing to survive the climb I’ve seen failure eye-to-eye Watched good things fall apart But every scar I carry now Feels welded into who I are (Bridge) Funny thing about fire— Too little and a man grows cold Too much and it tempers steel Till the weak parts finally fold And maybe that’s what all this was Not punishment, not defeat Just life throwing sparks and pressure Till I became somebody I could keep (Final Chorus) Too many irons in the fire Too many miles behind these boots But every hard road led somewhere Even when I couldn’t see the truth Now I don’t run from the pressure I know exactly what it’s worth Because the man standing here today Was forged in the hottest part of the burn And if I had to walk it all again Through the loss, the smoke, the strain— I would. Because the fire made the man.
