Let's check out the impact of Cat 5e and Cat 6A Ethernet couplers on cable runs using tests for insertion loss, return loss, and near-end cross talk. The Cat 5e coupler, with its straight wires and causes frequency-related insertion loss issues on longer cables and higher frequencies. In contrast, the Cat 6A coupler, with its waterproof cover and reduced length electrical connection, minimally degrades the signal even with multiple couplers and cables. Tests show the importance of using Cat 6A couplers for high-speed data transmission over long cables, as the difference in signal quality between the two types becomes more significant at higher data rates.
