How Barrett MRAD work
Barrett MRAD (Multi-Role Adaptive Design) is a bolt-action sniper rifle designed by Barrett Firearms to meet the requirements of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Precision Sniper Rifle (PSR) program. developed in response to a request from USSOCOM in December 2009 for a new precision sniper rifle. Building on the success of the Barrett 98B, the MRAD includes several improvements and modifications. features a folding stock for easier transport, a field-changeable barrel/caliber capability, and a modular design that allows for easy maintenance in the field. It can accommodate various calibers, including .338 Lapua Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum, and .308 Winchester. MRAD was named the 2012 Rifle of the Year by Shooting Illustrated magazine. It has been in production since 2013 and is used by various military and law enforcement units around the world.
