how discord lost control
discord just changed forever. the new "teen-by-default" policy and mandatory id verification is a massive shift in how we use the platform, but nobody is asking the real question: why did it get this bad? we’re trading privacy for a false sense of security because people forgot how to take accountability for their own digital space. it’s easy to blame the platform, but the tools for a safe experience, blocking, muting, and closing dms, have been there since day one. instead of teaching digital literacy or parenting, we’ve offloaded our responsibility to an algorithm. now, the "wild west" of the internet is being paved over with id checks and restrictions that won't actually stop the problem. if you join a shady server, that's on you. if we keep running from platform to platform instead of fixing the behavior, we're just building the same walls in a different place. #discord #privacy #gaming
