Kyle from Cammell Laird proves why ships float with a simple experiment that you can try at home using some everyday tin foil! Boats partly float and partly sink according to its own weight and how much weight it carries, and that the greater the total of these two weights, the lower it sits in the water. One of the most basic rules is that an object will sink if it weighs more than the same volume of water. A ship might be massive but so is the amount of water it displaces.
