HOW does this continue to get even more weirder. (Ep2)

I am incapable of understanding or even the prospect of trying to fathom what has caused or led to this "illegal" event. The game seems as if it would be a bit short but really there is so much to explore it seems. We'll learn more on the next expedition of whatever this place is called whether it be the Dream BBQ or something else.
