How I Hand Sew Buttonholes

I hand sew every single buttonhole I put in a garment. I really enjoy hand sewing, and I think hand sewn buttonholes not only look better, but wear better than machine worked buttonholes. The only advantage a sewing machine has is that it's a whole lot faster. This video will walk you through the steps I take when I'm hand sewing a buttonhole The thread I like to use is a 16/2 linen thread from the brand Bockens. There are several sources for this, William Booth Draper sells it in several colors and in smaller lengths than other sources. I also sometimes use the 35/2 thread from the same brand, William Booth Draper and Burnley and Trowbridge both sell this weight. Burnley and Trowbridge also sell the brand of needles I like to use which is Bohin.
