How not to go backwards on Skates. 💚TutoriaLS: Backwards
3 DON’TS of Backwards 🛑 Long Transition 🛑 Weight on the Leading Leg 🛑 Look over the Wrong Shoulder We understand all these DON’TS are part of your learning because are EASIER ways to LEARN, but “easier” sometimes is the way that causes more accidents or a less efficient skating. ✅ 180 instead of 360: Keep your eyes always looking the way you going. Keep your eyes on the road! 👀 ✅ Put more weight on the tailing or rear leg. You need to use the leading leg to increase your speed or reduce it. For example, in stopping through a powerslide, the leading leg has to have “FreeWill”. 75% of the weight is on the Tailing Leg and the 25% on the Leading leg. Mainly on the TOES. ✅The aim is to gain a healthy backwards technique, free of bad falls. If you keep your weight on the leading leg, any obstacle is on your way will cause you a fall. ✅Most of the time your weight is on the tailing leg. Only you will need to change the weight from tailing to leading leg to turn, cross overs, and TStop backwards.
