The NRS-2 (Нож Разведчика Стреляющий, "Scout Firing Knife") is a unique hybrid weapon combining a knife blade with a built-in single-shot firing mechanism.
The NRS-2 was designed by TsNIITochMash and manufactured by the Tula Arms Plant in the 1980s for Soviet Spetsnaz troops. It was intended for special reconnaissance and close combat situations, allowing for both stabbing/throwing and firing at short range. Fires a 7.62×42 mm SP-4 cartridge, similar to the one used in the PSS silent pistol. Weight approximately 570 grams. Initially issued to Soviet Spetsnaz troops, it continues to be used by modern Russian Spetsnaz and special law enforcement groups.
