Ruger No. 1 is a single-shot rifle with a falling-block action, designed by Bill Ruger and introduced in 1967. designed by Bill Ruger in 1966 and introduced in 1967. It was inspired by the English Farquharson rifle of 1872. The rifle features a hammerless falling-block action, where an underlever lowers the breechblock to load a cartridge and cocks the rifle. When the trigger is pulled, the breechblock moves forward to fire the cartridge. Initially produced by Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc., the Ruger No. 1 has been in continuous production since its introduction. It has seen limited production runs over the years.
