How To: AWS Lambda Response Streaming

AWS Lambda now supports response payload streaming. This new feature lets functions stream response data back to clients incrementally. Allowing them to return a larger payload than the 6 megabytes limit for synchronous invocation as well as allowing them to exceed the 15 minute time limit. You can send response data to callers once it becomes available, thus improving the time to first byte to milliseconds as the function does not have to wait for the full result to be available before starting to return data. Among many other use cases, better search engine rankings can be achieved. Currently Node js 14 and higher or custom runtimes as well as function urls are supported. API Gateway and Application load balancer do not support progressive returns but can be used for larger return payloads.
