By doing them you will put emphasis on you back and lats, like by doing regular pull ups, but the difference is that your biceps and forearms will work more. Thus, close grip pull ups should be included into your regular pull ups routine. Process of learning close grip pull ups is not much different from learning regular pull up. After you master regular close grip pull up, you can do more complex variations, like L sit close grip pull ups or weighted close grip pull up. Here are the steps you need to cover in order to learn this move: Close Grip Pull Ups Tutorial Steps: Technique -start from the regular deadhang position -use close grip, where palms are touching or almost touching themselves -you can use pronated or supinated grip -thumbs over or under the bar -pull up until your chin is over the bar -lower yourself down Progression 1.Close grip Australian pull ups -aim for at least 10 reps -do both pronated and supinated grip 2.Isometric hold -aim for at least 10 seconds hold 3.Negatives -Jump to upper position and lower yourself down as slow as you can -Repeat this 3 to 5 times 4.Assisted close grip pull ups -Use resistance bends to make the move easier -Another option is to put the legs on a chair/bar in order to lower your weight -Aim for 3 to 5 reps 5.Regular pull ups -Aim for at least 5 reps Variations 1.Weighted close grip pull ups 2.L sit close grip pull ups 3.High close grip pull ups 4.Explosive close grip pull ups 5.Close grip pull ups to muscle up There you go!
