How to make a volcano using fruit

One of the simplest, quickest and most satisfying science experiments you can perform with your kids - simply adding a little food colouring, washing up liquid and bicarbonate of soda to a citrus fruit will make it bubble and fizz like a tiny, colourful volcano! The acid in the fruit reacts with the bicarbonate of soda, releasing gas that bubbles through the water, food colouring and detergent. Some parental supervision is needed because of the sharp knife, but the rest of this experiment is easy to perform even for a toddler - and will delight children and grown ups of all ages!
