How to make cold wax medium

Hello Friends and welcome to another art studio vlog. Let's make cold wax medium! Making Cold Wax Medium is easier than you might think, with only a few ingredients required. Cold wax medium differs from Encaustic medium although both beeswax based, they are used very differently. Cold wax medium is used as a paste-type consistency and added to oil paint or used as a varnish. I'll be sharing the paintings I make with the cold wax medium in future art studio vlogs. The recipe 11oz bleached beeswax 11oz solvent (Gamsol or Equivilent) 1oz Damar Resin It makes just under 1 litre of cold wax medium The ratios of this cold wax medium recipe can be altered depending on if you prefer a softer or firmer medium. Please note. Damar resin fumes are toxic. Use a low heat to melt the resin being careful it doesn’t smoke. It is always good practice to work in a well ventilated room.
