How to Make Your Projects Perfect

A not-so-simple foot stool built for my kids to use for the next couple of years until they grow tall enough to reach the sink. But this stool I plan to keep until their children are ready to use a stool and that's because this project is perfect. Perfection is made. The parts for this stool were cut to fit exactly where they needed to be, with the help of some jigs to ensure consistency. While the stool isn't without flaw, it is perfect because it was a challenge. I didn't make this stool for the fun of it, I made it to push myself, to design something without thinking about building it, then to build it to last using traditional joinery and breaking out the hand tools for a little practice. Oh, and that flaw you saw with the gap on that one leg, that was a handsaw error where I cut off my mark at slightly the wrong angle and had an issue where I dug too deep when trimming the tenon. I knew it was a problem when I did it but left it anyway. Could I have fixed it? Yes. Did I want to? No. Because that's a reminder for me and a mark to show this was made, not bought.
