The Duplicator plugin is a popular tool for migrating WordPress websites. It allows you to easily clone, copy, or migrate a site from one location to another. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use the Duplicator plugin: Note: Before you start, it's always a good idea to create a backup of your website and database, just in case anything goes wrong. Step 1: Install and Activate Duplicator Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard. Navigate to "Plugins" - "Add New." Search for "Duplicator" in the search bar. Install and activate the "Duplicator" plugin. Step 2: Create a Package After activating the plugin, you'll see a new menu item called "Duplicator" in your WordPress admin sidebar. Click on it. Click on the "Packages" tab. Click the "Create New" button. The plugin will run a system scan to ensure your site is ready for duplication. If any issues are detected, it will provide guidance on how to resolve them. Once the scan is successful, you can configure the package settings. Pay attention to the "Archive" and "Installer" sections. Archive: This is the backup file of your site. You can choose between ZIP and DUP formats. Leave the default settings unless you have specific requirements. Installer: The installer file is needed to extract and install the package on the destination server. Again, leave the default settings unless you have a reason to change them. Click the "Next" button when you're ready. Duplicator will now package your site into an archive. Once the process is complete, you'll be presented with download links for the archive and installer files. Click on each link to download them to your computer. Step 3: Upload Package to the Destination Server Upload Files: Using FTP or cPanel File Manager, upload both the installer and archive files to the root directory of the destination server where you want to migrate your site. Create a Database: In your destination server's cPanel, create a new MySQL database and a user with full privileges. Make sure to note down the database name, username, and password. Run Installer: Open a web browser and go to http://yourdomain.com/installer.php (replace "yourdomain.com" with your actual domain). Follow the on-screen instructions. Enter the database details you created in the previous step. Click "Next" to proceed. Update Permalinks: After the installation is complete, log in to your WordPress admin on the new server and go to "Settings" - "Permalinks." Click "Save Changes" to update permalinks. That's it! Your WordPress website should now be successfully migrated to the new server using the Duplicator plugin. Remember to check your site thoroughly to ensure everything is working as expected.
