If you're stuck with unacceptable correlation values (Pearson correlation value less than 0.500) and poor significance value (sig value more than 0.05) for your hypotheses then follow these steps to optimise them:
1) use MS Excel to improve the correlation values first. manipulate data by matching the values of the independent variables to the dependent variables. this will build a direct or inverse correlation.
2) import the dataset to SPSS after the pearson correlation values are satisfactory in Excel.
3) perform correlation test. make sure that at least 50% of independent variables show value more than 0.500.
4) perform regression. at least 50% variables should show sig value of less than 0.05. If this is not fulfilled then go back to the dataset in Excel and change the values again and increase correlation even more.
