Engage the parking brake. Wear gloves and safety glasses. Locate the Battery: Open the hood. Find the battery (usually on the driver's side in a Fiat/Abarth). Disconnect Negative First: Loosen the nut on the black (-) terminal clamp. Slide it off. Secure it away from the post to prevent sparks. Disconnect Positive Second: Lift the plastic cover if present. Loosen the nut on the red (+) terminal clamp. Slide it off. Remove Hold-Down Bracket: Use a socket wrench to remove the bolt securing the clamp at the battery base. Swap the Batteries: Lift the heavy old battery out. Clean corrosion from the tray and cable clamps using a wire brush. Drop the new battery in.
