In this video, I walk through a basic OpenClaw setup for a fully local and private AI assistant.
I’m keeping this first build simple and focused on the core setup:
local gateway
Ollama for local models
basic onboarding choices
terminal-first testing
how to think through model selection on a normal computer
I also share some of the mistakes I made the first time through, including model size issues, tool support problems, and a few setup choices that were more confusing than expected, so you can avoid the same problems and get started the cleaner way.
This is not an advanced setup yet. The goal here is just to get OpenClaw running locally in a simple, private, beginner-friendly way.
In future videos, I’ll be testing communication channels, skills, and more practical workflows.
