This video shows a well known technique for forming loops at the start of a braid. This start is common for braiding leashes, lanyards and the likes. It allows you to secure a snap hook or a ring inside the loop, or the loop can be used as is.
In the video I demonstrate how to form a loop for an 8, 6 and 4 strand braid.
You can then apply the same principles on braids of different numbers of strands.
When using an odd number of strands in a braid, we add one more strand and make the loop as an odd numbered braid, then drop a strand.
