How To Understand a Compressor Map
How To Understand a Compressor Map Are you unsure of what a compressor map is or how to understand it? We're here to help 🤓 A compressor map is a crucial tool for choosing the right supercharger for your application. The compressor map is essentially a graph showing the relation between airflow and pressure ratio. This map is used to show the operation area of a supercharger and can tell you how well the supercharger is matched to your engine, as well as aid you in choosing the right supercharger to begin with. The map is built up by some key elements consisting of: 1. X-axis: Airflow (we measure it in kg/s) 2. Y-axis: Pressure Ratio 3. Speedlines (showing the speed of the supercharger) 4. Efficiency islands: Showing the aerodynamic efficiency within that area When you know how to read and understand a compressor map, you are one step closer to being able to choose the right supercharger!
