So today, I will be showing you how to uninstall the Android Auto application from your smartphone with the help of a simple ADB command. #android Android Auto is just not an application that I use and look at the list of permissions that Google automatically grants for it. So in my never-ending journey to remove bloatware from my Android devices, we're going to uninstall it from the default user account with ADB today. Before we can do this, though, you first need to have some things setup ahead of time. For example, you will need to have ADB & Fastboot tools installed on your PC.eady done on the topic in an attempt to prevent this video from being longer than it needs to be. But you can get these tools directly from Google or by using a toolkit installer that will give you a command prompt shortcut on your desktop. With that done, you will also need to have Developer Mode enabled Which can be done by tapping the Build Number section within the About Phone Settings menu around 7-10 times. This is required in order to enable USB Debugging Mode, which is also needed in order to execute the ADB command that will uninstall the Android Auto application. With all of that done, we can then begin the uninstallation process. So let's connect the smartphone to the PC with a USB cable And then bring up a Command Prompt, Windows PowerShell, or a Terminal window from within the same folder as our ADB & Fastboot tools. It's usually best practice to execute the command... adb devices before we begin anything. just to make sure that our PC has a successful connection to the Android device we have connected. This also brings up the USB Debugging access prompt on the smartphone for those who have yet to grant access to it. Then, we're going to type out the command... adb shell ...and press enter. This brings us from a prompt where commands are executed on the PC to a shell prompt that's directly on the smartphone itself. This next command is the actual one that removes Android Auto from our device. So let's type out... pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.projection.gearhead When you're ready, press the enter button on the keyboard and it should drop you right back into the same shell prompt we were just at. If you get an error here, that means something went wrong. But if there is no error present, then that means the command went through successfully. Now, you can go back to our Android device. Dive back into the Settings application And then tap on the Apps menu You can then search for that Android Auto application and it should no longer be there within this list of apps. that's because we have completely uninstalled it from the default user account on Android. Android auto will no longer be able to run in the background, and all of those permissions that gave it access to your data will be revoked. As mentioned, if you do not have a PC to perform this command, there are still a couple of ways you can remove Android Auto from your device. The first, is a popular application called Canta. With the help of Shizuku or root access, Canta can remove bloatware apps without the need of a computer. Another option is an application called LADB, which lets you execute ADB commands locally right from your device. So there you have it, we have successfully removed Android Auto from our device and it can no longer run in the background. It also no longer has access to our data as well. If you're not a fan of pre-installed bloatware like myself, then know you can use this method to remove just about all of that from your smartphone or tablet with ADB. Step by Step Tutorial ~~~~~ 1.
