First, we break down a truss structure into individual elements and joints. Second, each element is characterised by a stiffness matrix, depending on its material properties and geometry. Third, we form a global stiffness matrix for the entire truss by assembling these matrices. Fourth, we apply boundary conditions and solve linear equations to determine displacements. Finally, these displacements help us calculate member forces.
