The long tail cast-on produces an edge that is stable, but stretchy - making it ideal for hats, top-down socks, and top-down jumper necklines. It can be slightly fiddly to begin with, but once your muscle memory kicks in it's speedy (and oddly fun) to work. In this video I show you how to work the long tail cast on, and give a couple of examples of where you might use it. It features two of my patterns, which both use the long tail cast on: Ya Basic bed socks: https://www.lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/ya-basic-bed-socks-knitting-pattern-by-jacki-badger Jimmy Jab Jumper: https://www.lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/jimmy-jab-jumper-knitting-pattern-by-jacki-badger You can find more of my patterns, along with more tips and tutorials, on my website: https://thewoollybadger.com/ And if you want to know when I publish new patterns, have new blogs or tutorials to share, or just fancy some yarn-y joy, join my mailing list: http://eepurl.com/g_M5rL
