This fly was shown to my Fly Fishing Team USA mates and I by our guide Dave Downie for the World Fly Fishing Championships in Scotland back in 2009. Its success in both lakes and rivers has fundamentally altered the style I tie my wooly buggers in. The long marabou tail and wide hackle provide maximum movement and maximum fishiness. I use it fishing loch style from a boat in lakes and reservoirs and I fish it swung and stripped in rivers as well.
