✘ // hurts like hell
here I go- about to get carried away ;] I tried to make connections in this vid- between the past and present and between experiences and between people...that draw the series together cohesively- those things are definitely there with this show which is something that is really rewarding for dedicated fans. As u guys know, I love parallels a lot- but to be a true parallel, the moments being compared have to say something greater and deeper together than either thing alone- it has to give more insight into a situation. so each parallel I included is very deliberate that way - the rest is going to be more satisfying if I leave it up to you to see. some random thoughts I had while making this though- We got no direct discussion in s10 about why Mulder and Scully are no longer together but saying it was Mulders 'depression' tells us nothing and is so lame. I think it is possible to piece together more satisfying implied reasons from FM and HA though. And I think it's something to do with profound grief that won't heal and not being able to discuss it. It's interesting to me the moment in 'Home' when Mulder says 'I never saw you as a mother before..' how terrifyingly jinxing/foreshadowing that becomes because I think by s10, he can't look at Scully anymore WITHOUT seeing the specter of motherhood- both in her personal pain and the shadow of William. This tells us a lot more and makes sense to me as to why they may still be in love with each other but find it too hard to be together Scullys issues about William are now fully intertwined with the loss of her own mother and that all intersected so painfully. I think she was so focused on her own grief and Mulders that she probably never fully appreciated how much it affected her mother too until it was too late :( special thanks to my girls Tracey and Liv for your much needed help! ✩
