A controversy in dentistry is the use of fluoride. I'll tell you what fluoride does. It makes the outside of the tooth stronger. That's not a bad thing. Unfortunately, it also affects other cells like bone🦴 cells. It makes them more brittle. It actually affects the way the thyroid works. It affects what's called calcification in a gland in your brain🧠. There are all sorts of things that fluoride can affect. So is there an alternative that will also strengthen the tooth? Well, my answer is yes. First of all, there is no fluoride originally in the tooth, so if you have a cavity in your tooth, it's not because you lost fluoride. So why are we adding back something we never had? What you lost were minerals. So what we need to have back are minerals. We use products that have something called hydroxyapatite. What that is, is actually the mineral that a tooth is made of. So if you have a cavity, if you have a sensitive tooth, if you have an issue or want to prevent all of the above, add back what the tooth is made of or missing, which is hydroxyapatite. Look for products that contain that and you don't need to use fluoride at all.
