Hyperlexia: When Reading Right is ..."a Problem"?

Hyperlexia is a condition where a child or adult reads at an advanced level for his/her age, that level is ahead of the persons comprehension. It is often associated with neurological conditions of with a variety of neurological conditions, very often with autism spectrum conditions, but has also been found to occur in typically developing children whose ability to decode written text goes beyond their level of comprehension and beyond the instruction that they have received.
