I Deserved the Punch

“I Deserved the Punch” is a dark Nordic folk ballad told from the perspective of Týr after the binding of Fenrir — one of the most tragic moments in Norse mythology. Inspired closely by the Poetic Edda and Prose Edda, this song explores guilt, broken trust, sacrifice, loyalty, and the grief between old friends after the gods chose fear over honor. Týr does not deny Loki’s rage. He does not defend himself. He gave his hand to keep an oath… but knows another oath was broken the moment Fenrir was chained. This is not Hollywood Norse mythology.
