This song is about me looking back on a childhood where I was supposed to be safe, but instead I experienced control, silence, and betrayal from people I trusted. I learned early to keep quiet, hide what I felt, and carry shame as if it belonged to me, just to get through it. Over time, those experiences didn’t just disappear—they came back as intrusive memories, fear, and “ghost-like” reminders that followed me into adulthood and even into my sleep. I move between being the child I was and the adult I became, trying to make sense of what happened and why it still affects me. I also face the painful truth that family doesn’t always mean safety, and that absence, neglect, and crossed boundaries left deeper marks than I understood at the time. Even with all of that, the song is also about me reclaiming my voice.
