Uncharted used to be one of PlayStation’s biggest franchises. Nathan Drake, Sully, Elena, Chloe, the insane set pieces, the ancient mysteries, the collapsing buildings, the plane crash, the train sequence; for a while, Uncharted felt like the definitive cinematic adventure game.
But after Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the series basically disappeared.
In this video, I look back at what made Uncharted so special, why Naughty Dog moved on, why Nathan Drake’s story ended so perfectly, and whether PlayStation should bring the franchise back with Uncharted 5, a Chloe and Nadine sequel, a Sam and Sully spin-off, or something completely new.
Uncharted may be gone for now, but there’s still nothing else quite like it.
