I Need a Dyno!

How can one build engines without having a dyno to really gauge how the changes and upgrades they made would affect the engine?? Dynamometers are very expensive, but luckily, I managed to come across videos showing other people able to build their own so I am going to try my hand at building my own dyno as well, and an inertia dyno specifically.
