I Never Went Away

This is a poem I wrote to help provide comfort when you have lost a loved one. They never truly leave us as long as they live in our hearts. As I leave this earth and my time here is done, Know the hardships are over and the battle is won. My victory is now with Jesus as I sit beside his throne, And seeing all my loved ones welcoming me home. I am now at rest and my soul is free. So don’t feel sorrow or cry over me. I am at peace and my pain is all gone. I am singing with the angels, a beautiful song. I want to give you comfort and to ease your sorrow, So you won’t be sad when you wake up tomorrow. Smile and remember the good times, as I am there. Look for me in your laughter and in the wind in your hair. Look for me as the red bird flies from the sky, Landing on the trees and then away I’ll fly. I will be there at Christmas with flair. So hang those stockings gently with care I will see your celebrations throughout the years. I will be there with you, to dry your tears. I will be there to provide hugs when you are blue, And witness all the good things that will happen to you. I love you always and of you I’m so proud. My love will never stop, of that I will avow. So, for today, smile and know I am okay, And remember, I never truly went away.
