“I Refused” is a song about breaking cycles and choosing a different life, even when you come from living in survival mode. I wrote this as a reminder that where you come from does not have to determine where you end up. We all have the ability to make different choices, heal, and create something better for the people who come after us. It’s about learning that peace is possible and that healing begins the moment you decide things end with you.
