I Think I Am Breaking Up with GitHub Copilot

Here me out though...I'm not anti-AI. I still think LLMs and their agentic derivatives are super useful and helpful pieces of technology. I also know that there is a large chorus of folks in the software engineering community largely advocating for engineers to stop worrying about authoring their own code. Instead we are supposed to delegate this work to LLMs while we move to a higher-plane of thought. Unfortunately I'm not sold on that idea. So much of value I've gotten from programming has been from the actual act of programming. Wrestling with syntax, chiseling out an API that feels and looks the way I want it too, and holding all the context of a problem in my head. I probably sound like one of those people who clung to their pen and pencil when the typewriter showed up, but I'm going to lean in to this feeling.
