The running joke to that question is alphabet soup, the jargon, acronym which are seemingly endless, the founder and pioneer of Hypertext (Ted Nelson) referred to the mess as "CyberCrud". Ways to keep the unwanted out of the computer data centers. However today I am not here to talk about all that, today I want to talk about IBM's AIX. The fourth attempt by IBM to build their own UNIX while keeping it open. There are a few topics I didn't cover in here, like OpenBoot, OpenBIOS which are things very much sought after today, those all originated with AIX. AIX is a combination of AT&T System V and BSD UNIX.
