In this video, I show what a model rocket engine ignitor goes through to start the engine(s). I used and ESP8266, INA219, MLX90614, and relay module for the testing. Maximum temperature read by the MLX90614 IR sensor was 387.27F well after the ignitor nichrome wire opened. Current maxed out for the INA219 and 3.2 Amps. I'll have to modify the Adafruit INA219 board to achieve higher amperage reporting. I was using an alkaline 9V battery to fire the ignitor. An ESP8266 was used for the control and monitoring of the sequence. An MLX90614 IR temperature module was used for the high temperature non-contact temperature monitoring.
