This is a somewhat recent feature; it's a "sprite cursor". The good thing about it it's that we could retire the old font hack that emulates cursors on the menu screen. This build is from september 2025 though.
I'm using an old build here because currently this feature is broken, tbh it was already back then, on options screen — it displayed the "inactive" bg for ommited settings.
