Finnish F1 race driver Valtteri Bottas and singer-songwriter Ilpo Kaikkonen have been close friends ever since their childhood. One day Valtteri asked Ilpo to write and perform a love song at his wedding. Valtteri wanted to surprise his bride Emilia, an olympic swimmer, and he wanted to participate in the song writing process. Kaikkonen agreed to write a song about the love of these two Finnish athletes, but first he needed Valtteri to open his heart on paper. After a couple of days Ilpo received an email message from Valtteri. It told the beautiful story about how the love birds had met and fallen in love. Ilpo wrote the song based on Valtteri’s email and named it Magic. The song premiered at Emilia and Valtteri’s wedding reception in Helsinki on 10 September 2016. Originally it was written and performed in Finnish. The song was such an instant success that Valtteri felt it needed to be recorded and released. He called Ilpo who felt the same. They also decided to make an English version of the song for all foreign fans to enjoy. Soon enough the record was made and ready to be introduced to the public.
