This rather eclectic piece for solo guitar was written while I was a student in composition at the New England Conservatory of Music around 1982. At that time, I was studying with Arthur Berger (1912-2003) who gave the piece its name. The goal was to capture the essence of twelve tone music without resorting to a twelve tone row or matrix. Essentially, free atonality.
