Designing a curriculum for future learners Informed Project based learning through the Global competence construct, Joseph Olan, Principal Texas Joseph talks about: • Implications of a multi-disciplinary investigative approach to learning • Building independent critical learners • How does this approach translate into real world skills and preparation for a global society and economy? Joseph Olan is currently Principal at Sacred Heart Catholic School, in Texas. He started his career as a Troops to Teacher teaching social studies, and has also been a mentor, department head, academic coach, academic dean, and has presented on numerous educational topics across Texas. Joseph travelled to The Republic of Singapore in 2015 as a U.S. Fulbright Distinguished Teacher to research, present, and collaborate on educational best practices. He has also been a panellist/presenter at two Regional Global Teaching Dialogues (2018, 2020) in the U.S. and at the Global Teaching Dialogue in Washington D.C. (2019) which are sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Joseph advocates for educators to include 21st century employability skills and global competence in the classroom to support college and career readiness.
