Inside a Humanoid Robot Sensor System at Embedded World 2026
At Embedded World 2026, Electromaker visited the Infineon booth to see a humanoid robot platform designed to demonstrate the sensing and control technologies required for modern robotics. The robot integrates several Infineon components which allow it to detect people, map its environment, and control motion safely. Three radar sensors provide 360 degree detection around the robot. Each radar module covers a 120 degree field of view. This allows the robot to detect people and moving objects around it and respond by turning or pointing in the correct direction. The platform also uses time of flight cameras. These sensors generate depth information and 3D images of the surrounding area. This data supports mapping, navigation, and face recognition. Similar technology already appears in autonomous vacuum robots and indoor mapping systems. AI processing and voice recognition allow the robot to respond to commands. In the demo, voice commands change the color of the robot’s LEDs in real time. The system also includes magnetic sensors to measure rotation and orientation, which helps prevent collisions. Motor control hardware from Infineon manages movement and actuator control inside the robot. Together these technologies show how multiple sensing systems combine to support the robots being developed today and the autonomous machines expected in future environments.
