Inside Akrotiri SAME DAY DRONES INTERCEPTED

On March 4th, 2026, I visited Akrotiri in Cyprus just hours after a tense and surreal morning. Two days earlier, on March 2nd, a drone attack had shaken the area. By March 3rd, Akrotiri village was evacuated. Then on the morning of my visit, Greek F-16s shot down two alleged drones and air-raid sirens sounded across Akrotiri. Despite the tension, I decided to document what the area felt like on the ground and share the reality of visiting during an unusual and historic moment. Cyprus is a place I know well — my dad has a house here and I’ve visited many times, so this wasn’t my first trip driving these roads. But this visit was unlike any other. The contrast between everyday life and sudden military tension made the experience unforgettable.
