#### INTRO "If you've ever used NotebookLM, you know how powerful it is. You add your research, your PDFs, your notes — and NotebookLM can turn them into audio overviews, slide decks, videos, and more. But here's the friction: getting good output requires good prompts. And crafting those prompts from scratch — every time, for every format — is slow, inconsistent, and kind of tedious. That's the gap I built Insight Studio to close." #### WHAT IS NOTEBOOKLM? "NotebookLM is Google's AI research assistant. You upload sources — papers, docs, websites, YouTube videos — and it builds a private knowledge base around them. From that knowledge base, it can generate study artifacts: audio summaries, slide decks, infographics, quizzes, mind maps. The quality of what it generates depends entirely on the instructions you give it. That's where most people hit a wall." #### WHAT IS CLAUDE? "Claude is Anthropic's AI — and one of the things it's genuinely exceptional at is following detailed, structured instructions and producing precise, well-formatted output. I use Claude here not as a chatbot, but as a prompt engineering engine. Claude's job is to read your notebook sources, understand what you're trying to create, and generate a rich, highly detailed instruction set — one that NotebookLM can execute to produce something actually worth using." #### THE COMBINATION — WHY IT WORKS "The insight behind Insight Studio is simple: Claude is great at describing what to make, and NotebookLM is great at making it. Alone, Claude can't create a podcast episode or a slide deck from your research documents. Alone, NotebookLM produces decent output — but depends on vague prompts most people write in thirty seconds. Together — Claude writes the expert-level prompt, NotebookLM executes it — and you get production-quality artifacts from your actual research, with almost no manual effort." #### INSIGHT STUDIO — HOW IT SOLVES THE FRICTION "Insight Studio is the bridge between the two tools. It's a local web app that walks you through the entire workflow in eight steps. It checks you're authenticated with both tools. You pick your NotebookLM notebook from a grid. You select which sources to include — and you can even focus on a specific chapter or section. You choose context files — pre-built prompt templates tuned for each artifact type. The app auto-suggests the right ones. You pick what you want to create: audio overview, video, slide deck, infographic, quiz, flashcards, mind map, data table, or a written report. Then you configure the parameters — format, length, style, difficulty. Now the key part: Claude generates the prompt. You watch it stream in real time. If you want to refine it — change the tone, adjust the depth — you can. It's your prompt; Claude just wrote the first draft. You hit Create. NotebookLM takes the prompt, generates the artifact, and when it's ready — you download it directly from the app." #### CLOSING "What took me thirty minutes of back-and-forth between two browser tabs — figuring out what to prompt, copying it over, hoping the output was decent — now takes under two minutes end to end. Insight Studio doesn't replace NotebookLM or Claude. It removes the friction between them, so you can go from 'I have research' to 'I have a polished artifact' in a single guided flow. If you're a student, researcher, educator, or just someone who processes a lot of information — this is the workflow I wish I'd had earlier.
