Intermediate Data Analysis with Excel
This workshop will provide you with an overview of some key intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Excel (2016 version and later for PC). You will gain an overview of pivot tables, conditional formulas, nested formulas, and additional data analysis tools. Participants will work to complete exercises using real-world data. From this session, participants will gain key intermediate-level competencies in Excel, a more complex understanding of data analysis techniques in spreadsheet applications, and practical experience in critical approaches to thinking about data. Some prior experience with Excel is recommended, such as completion of the Introduction to Working with Data in Excel workshop, or familiarity with basic Excel terminology (e.g. functions, formulas, sheets, cells, rows, columns, etc.) and using spreadsheets to collect, organize, or conduct basic analyses of data. Learning Outcomes: 1. Define terminology: conditional logic, merging data, crosstabs 2. Compute conditional and nested functions (vlookup, if, and) 3. Create pivot tables If you'd like to follow along, the dataset (Excel file) and step-by-step guide can be found here: https://github.com/Digital-Scholarship-Hub/Excel_Intermediate
