Intermediate Fiddle Lesson 6

In this lesson, I concentrate on playing in the key of C. We return to the idea of playing a Hornpipe to further our skill level at cross bowing. The melody chosen is a traditional tune from the North East of England called 'The Keel Row'. Then a new tune is introduced called 'Whitechapel Bell' named after Whitechapel Bell foundry in the East End of London. Which has a sligthly different rhythm, but is also in the key of C. It incorporates some Staccatto notes and a number of grace notes, as well as a couple of slides, so there are some useful embellishments to discuss and work through. Then as the final part of this lesson we try playing the same melody in a couple of other keys and also an octave lower, to break things up a little. I hope you find this lesson fun and interesting.
