INTI (Music Video)
INTI (Arabic for ‘You’) is a crossover song that brings together contemporary Afrobeats and Dancehall fused with traditional sea music percussions from the Arabian Gulf layered with nostalgic 80s synths and playful Arabic trap/melancholic vocals. The song explores themes of love and loss and it means so much to me because I have grown from the process of writing, recording and releasing it. It took me months of trial and error to be able to create a song that binds Western and Eastern vocal melodies together harmoniously. The most beautiful part of INTI (in my eyes) is the breakdown at 1min. 55 sec. in which I sing the word ‘you’ repeatedly to reinforce my feelings. Singing in Arabic carries a different feeling for me. And expressing emotion through intricate Arabic words and melodies pushes the expression to indescribable heights. To elaborate on the song, I journeyed into unchartered territory and shot a music video in Las Vegas and the outskirts of Red Rock Canyon and thereafter a cemetery in New Orleans. Sin City (Las Vegas) is warped with dualities and conflicting ideologies, not unlike a complex web of emotions that binds two people together. Finding relatable threads as I stepped into my alter-ego and out into its vast streets, among its towering structures and cacophony of light and sound, brought this fast-paced, visual charged film to life 💔🎰 DOP @jacksonallers Editing, Grading @zahedsultan
