The first video on NM Dan Heisman's chess channel, covering ALL areas of chess improvement. Dan's "Chess Thinking" series specializes in thought process: analysis evaluation, time management...! This video introduces the series (400+ videos!) and analyzes an interesting endgame as a sample of thought process. Dan has "Playlists" to help viewers find specific improvement areas: openings, endgames, thought process, strategy, basic material, etc. Dan has a video on how to navigate this channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJto6tKV6m0. Please let your chess friends know how to find "www.youtube.com/c/danheismanchess". Word-of-mouth publicity is much appreciated! The award-winning "Chess Tip of the Day" is posted daily on Twitter via www.twitter.com/danheisman. Watch for NM Laura Smith and my new Chessable course on the Counting tactic called: "Can you take it? A beginner's guide to winning pieces" In 2021 two of these videos won the awards for Best Instructive Video and Honorable Mention from the Chess Journalists of America (CJA; Dan's Novice Nook column won the written "Best Instruction" award 7 times). This channel is www.youtube.com/c/danheismanchess - tell your friends about this chess improvement resource and check out our playlist at https://www.youtube.com/@danheismanchess/playlists. :) In 2023 the video Thought Process Overview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rZX3GiwMnk won first place in the CJA voting for Best Instructional Video. Dan has 400+ videos on the channel as of 2025 covering pretty much every subject of chess improvement (let him know via www.danheisman.com if he is missing one you need). In 2023 much of his "extra" chess time was spent on writing his 13th chess book about the Chess Tips of the Day. Note: The first dozen or so of these videos were made with a headset so the audio quality isn't quite as good. After that I switched to the professional microphone I used to make my Chess.com TV show "Q&A with Coach Heisman" and that greatly improved the audio quality. NM Dan Heisman has been a full-time chess instructor since 1996 and is the author of 13 chess books, had a TV show "Q&A with Coach Heisman" on Chess.com and the radio show "Ask the Renaissance Man" on the Internet Chess Club. Radio personality Howard Stern was one of Dan's students. Dan tries to answer comments on YouTube but for a quicker, more comprehensive answer (or questions about lessons), contact Dan via email, skype, or phone via Dan's website www.danheisman.com. His Chess Tip of the Day is @danheisman on Twitter, which won the award for "Best Twitter Feed" in 2021 from the Chess Journalists of America. #Chess #ImproveChess #ChessInstruction #ChessImprovement #ChessLesson #ChessGetBetter #LearnChess Yes, my paternal great-grandfather Aaron's first cousin was John Heisman https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Heisman, the football coach who left the endowment for the Heisman Trophy, often mispronounced "HIZ'man" by the media. Our family pronounces it with an "S" sound, not a "Z".
