Introduction to Minimal Brain Dysfunction

Minimal Brain Dysfunction (MBD) is an older medical term, historically used to describe children with average or above-average intelligence but with mild to severe learning or behavioural difficulties. These difficulties were thought to reflect subtle problems in the central nervous system. Today, it has been replaced by more specific diagnostic categories, but it marked an early attempt to understand subtle neurological differences in child development.
